Beer Suggestions for Beeramisu
My recipe for beeramisu calls for AleSmith Speedway Stout, but if it isn’t available in your area, you may substitute other strong, dark beers. Beers brewed with coffee beans are especially tasty. Avoid extra dry stouts and anything with a strong hoppy or bitter profile. Most porters, bocks, and stouts will work just fine.
Here are some specific beer recommendations to try, but by all means experiment. And please come back to comment! Share your notes and ideas with all of us! Prost!
- Oskar Blues Ten FIDY Imperial Stout
- Port Brewing Old Viscosity
- Maui Brewing CoCoNut Porter
- Founders Breakfast Stout
- Kona Brewing Pipeline Porter
- Guinness Draught
- North Coast Old Rasputin Imperial Stout
- Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence
- Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast
- Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron
- Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout
- Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

I will be trying this recipe next Monday for all my housemates. I’ll be using a locally brewed stout by Fire Mountain Brewery called Steam Fired Stout. It isn’t brewed with coffee beans, but it definitely has coffee and chocolate undertones to it. It’s currently my favorite stout (actually, ALL his beers are my favorite).
